Consultations, 24-hour emergencies and how the firm works

We answer the most common questions about how we work: 24-hour criminal emergencies, online consultations, changing your lawyer, confidentiality and what to bring to the first consultation. Emergencies: 669 30 21 13.

Do you deal with emergencies outside office hours?

Yes. Assistance to detainees and criminal emergencies are attended to 24 hours a day, every day of the year, on 669 30 21 13.

Do you work outside Alicante and Madrid?

Yes. Our offices are in Alicante and Madrid, but we act before courts and tribunals throughout Spain, and the firm has a presence in London and Paris.

Can I change lawyers if I already have a court-appointed one?

Yes, at any point in the proceedings. You need only appoint the lawyer you trust: we take care of requesting the formal handover (venia) and of ensuring the continuity of the defence without interruptions.

Do you offer online consultations?

Yes, by video call by prior appointment, with the same validity and confidentiality as an in-person meeting. The first online consultation, lasting 15 minutes, is free of charge.

What type of cases do you take on?

Criminal law in complex proceedings: economic and corporate criminal law, technology-related offences, and defence and prosecution in serious cases. We are a boutique firm: we do not take on just any matter, we take on those that demand strategy.

Is the consultation confidential even if I do not instruct you?

Yes. Everything discussed is protected by professional secrecy from the first contact, whether or not you instruct the firm.

I already have a private lawyer. Can you take over my case mid-proceedings?

Yes, at any stage, through the formal handover (venia), which we request directly from the outgoing colleague. The change does not bring the proceedings to a halt.

What should I bring to the first consultation?

All the documentation you have received (summonses, police report, complaint, formal notices) and a chronology of the events. With that, in the free first 15-minute online consultation we can already assess viability and the immediate steps.

What is the difference between a court-appointed lawyer and a privately appointed one?

The court-appointed lawyer is a right and fulfils an essential function, but is assigned by rota and cannot be chosen. A private lawyer is chosen for specialisation and dedication to the specific case. You can switch at any time through the formal handover (venia).

Are my communications with my lawyer confidential, even in prison?

Yes: they are protected by the right of defence and may only be intercepted in wholly exceptional cases (terrorism) with judicial authorisation. This includes communications in prisons.
