One lawyer directs your case from start to finish, backed by the whole SCJE team and our LIWARD® case-analysis method.
Under Spanish law you have the right to an interpreter, the right to remain silent and the right to appoint a private lawyer of your choice instead of the duty solicitor. Police custody is limited to a maximum of 72 hours before you must be released or brought before a judge. Our advice in every case: do not sign anything and do not give a statement until your own lawyer is sitting next to you. Statements made in those first hours shape the entire case.
Driving with a breath-alcohol reading above 0.60 mg/l is a criminal offence in Spain, prosecuted through fast-track trials that can be over within days. Handled correctly, most first-time offences are resolved with a fine and a driving ban — without prison and, where possible, protecting the validity of your foreign licence. The key decisions are taken at the police station and in the first 48 hours.
Customs and drug-related arrests, European Arrest Warrants and airport incidents require immediate, specialised action. We attend the airport and the National Police facilities at any hour, liaise with your consulate if you wish, and take over the case from the very first minute.
You do not need to stay in Spain while your case is ongoing. With a power of attorney we conduct the entire proceedings on your behalf, keep you informed in English by email and video call, and arrange sworn interpreters whenever your presence is required. We act for British, Irish, Dutch, Scandinavian and other international residents across the province of Alicante, and for clients who have already returned home.
In most cases yes, unless the court has imposed travel restrictions. With a power of attorney we represent you at hearings that do not require your presence and request video-link appearances where possible.
Yes, at any stage of the proceedings and with no penalty. We handle the formal substitution before the bar and the court, and take over the file the same day.
You receive a fixed written quote for each stage before we start, with in-house instalment plans set up immediately. The first 15-minute online consultation is free.

We assist British, Irish, Dutch, Nordic and other international clients across Alicante and the Costa Blanca, explain every step of the Spanish criminal procedure in clear English, and liaise with your family or consulate when needed.

Facing a criminal investigation in a country whose language and legal system you do not fully control is frightening in a way that goes beyond the case itself. Our practice exists to remove that second layer of fear. We work with you entirely in English, explain every procedural step in advance, and make sure nothing happens to you in a language you cannot follow.
We defend the full range of criminal matters that affect international residents and visitors on the Costa Blanca and in Madrid: arrests and police-station assistance, drink-driving, fraud and financial crime, property offences, tax matters, corporate liability, juvenile cases and European Arrest Warrants. Whatever the charge, the same principles apply — act early, control the evidence, and keep you fully informed.
Two things set the work apart: genuine courtroom experience with foreign clients before Spanish judges, and availability when it counts, including 24-hour assistance for detentions. If you or someone close to you is under investigation, the earliest possible advice almost always improves the outcome.
